The Ultimate Guide To A Destination Wedding In Costa Rica

One of the most frequently asked questions, I hear from potential clients is “What is it really like to have a destination wedding in Costa Rica?”

If you consider having your wedding in this “Pura Vida” paradise called Costa Rica please read this information below on what you can expect to spend for your destination wedding in CR according to my experience.

WHAT’S THE BEST THING ABOUT HAVING A DESTINATION WEDDING IN COSTA RICA?

There are so many reasons to have your wedding in Costa Rica, but to me, one of the best things about it is that you will truly be able to enjoy all the country. Costa Rica’s strikingly diverse terrain, lush forests, wildlife reserves and tropical beaches, offers a little something for every traveler. So, in two weeks you can get the best of the best.

WHAT’S THE MOST EXPENSIVE PART?

Our site fees are most expensive than in the United States. Some of our most requested venue site fees are in the $7000 USD range, rooms are not included in this price. The venue will always ask you for a large percentage or the totality of room reservations

And in second place, without a doubt, the most expensive part of a wedding is Food & Beverage – The average food and beverage is $220 USD per person. Transparency is important and my team and I are always honest. Even if it sometimes means losing business in the short term. We always want to give our clients the best value and clear pricing.

But all this is definitely worth it, you will have excellent service and an unbeatable view

That is a REALITY and our venues are Rockstar Level!!!

WHAT’S THE AVERAGE SPEND ON A DESTINATION WEDDING IN OUR COUNTRY?

That is the burning question LOL. Truthfully, I would estimate, $70,000 USD – $80,000 USD for approximately 80-100 guests. I’d say for 50 guests you would be looking at around $40,000 USD. It really depends on the client’s needs and budget. I find that our clients have exquisite and well-defined tastes, and are “Experience Seekers.” They are okay with spending if they can see the authenticity and the value that a luxury experience will provide.

WHAT’S A SURPRISING FACT ABOUT A COSTA RICA EVENT?

The Weather, you can be surprised by the rain for sure, you never know when it is about to rain, but that is part of the magic. From December to April (dry season- “summer”) you can get sunny skies. And those months obviously are tourism high season.

And as a second fact, Costa Rica is very safe. You and your guests can always feel free, comfortable, and calm, but never forget to be cautious.

WHAT’S THE VENDOR YOU SHOULD PAY ATTENTION AFTER HIRING A WEDDING PLANNER?

Photographer for sure. You should hire a photographer to have the story before the wedding, he will capture the special moments and emotions.
When you are looking for a photographer please consider:

  • The photography Style: it is more than an editing or photography technique. It’s a combination of every decision a photographer makes. Also if you want photos with a gothic, classic or vintage appearance, with lots of light, traditional or artistic photos.
  • The look matters: he will be moving around and everyone will notice him. The clothing should be according to the place, always comfortable without losing professional appearance. If tattoos bother you, ask him to cover them.
  • Wedding day coverage: Think of a minimum of 7 hours, choose a photographer that has full coverage, that is all day for you (of course with its short free times) or unless he or you are not aware of time, remember that there are always unforeseen events and having to think of an extra budget can be overwhelming

Geoff will always be ready for you, he is helpful, always captures everything literally about everything from the wedding, he is good-looking and puts that extra touch on the photos. Don’t hesitate.
